RYA Coastal Skipper practical course (BE-CSP601)

You will learn to plan and execute more complex passages by day and night as well as being able to manoeuvre your yacht in more demanding situations and under various conditions. The Coastal Skipper course is an intensive sailing week and will help you to gain the confidence needed for skippering a yacht on coastal passages. Amongst other you will learn: Passage planning for coastal and offshore voyages Preparing a yacht for sea, including checks and

watch keeping Pilotage by day and by night Passage making and skippering skills Navigation, position fixing, by day and night Use of electronic navigational equipment, including radar Advanced yacht handling under power and under sail Preparing for and managing adverse weather conditions Emergency situations and procedures Navigating in restricted visibility Night cruising In order to get the maximum out of this course, we recommend having attended the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster shorebased course, or have knowledge to that level, as your instructor will not have time to teach the theory syllabus during this practical sail cruising week.
