This experience builder provides a balanced mix of sailing miles, visiting harbours and rivers, and developing key skills such as passage planning, pilotage, tide calculations, handling tidal currents, and a touch of night sailing.
Description of this experience builder:
This 4 day experience builder adds up to 100 miles to your nautical experience, sailing in Zeeland and coastal waters with stops in various ports. The exact route and stops are planned at the start of the experience builder based on weather and the wind direction.
An example of a route
The route departs from our base in Kortgene and explores the tidal waters of the Oosterschelde. We will experience tidal effects, navigate shallow sand banks, and encounter shipping traffic. After a night in Zierikzee, we’ll pass the locks and enter the North Sea, sailing along the Dutch coast using buoys and lighthouses for navigation. After a full day on the water, we’ll arrive at the marina of Vlissingen. In the following days, we can continue toward destinations such as Middelburg and the beautiful Veere, finishing the route back at our centre in Kortgene.
Most miles on this experience builder are made during daytime, though a late-night arrival is possible. We’ll guide you in planning and executing the passage, while developing your navigation, sailing, and harbour manoeuvring skills.
This experience builder is the ideal preparation for making miles and for gaining extra experience after completing your Day Skipper or Competent Crew certificate, or for simply enjoying being on the water and experience our fantastic sailing area.
